Women's Soccer Falls To Harvard, 2-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team fell to Harvard University, 2-0, at Ohiri Field in Cambridge this afternoon.
Harvard capitalized on a UMass foul in the 27th minute of the first half to start the scoring. The Crimson's Orly Ripmaster scored on the direct kick by placing a shot in the upper left corner of the goal.
With 18 minutes left to play in the game, Harvard co-captain Colleen Morre took a shot from 10 yards out, which was saved by UMass senior goaltender Julie Podhransky (Dallas, Texas). The rebound was tapped out to Caitlin Costello, who redirected the ball into the back of the goal.
Podhransky had nine saves in the game in for UMass, while Harvard goaltender Cheryl Gunther made seven saves in recording the shutout. It was Harvard's fourth consecutive shutout.
The Minutewomen return to action Friday, Oct. 5, when they take on Fordham at 3:00 p.m. in Bronx, N.Y.
