AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team fell to Hartford, 2 1, today at Totman Field. UMass falls to 0-2 on the season, while the Hawks are now 1-1.
Hartford got on the board first with a goal by Guy Primor off a direct kick at the 22:31 mark. UMass answered back in the second half with a goal by senior Benny Hoffman (Allentown, Pa.) off a cross by sophomore Andrew Eicher (Billerica, Mass.) at the 54:17 mark.
Hartford earned the victory when Michael Zeller scored off a deflection with an assist to Asaf Lubezky at the 77:54 mark.
Junior goalie Bryan O'Quinn (Feeding Hills, Mass.) made three saves for UMass, while Hartford goalie Chris Doyle stopped six shots.
The Minutemen return to action when they travel to Maine to take on the Black Bears on Saturday, September 9, at 1:00 p.m.
