AMHERST, Mass. - UMass junior goalkeeper Julie Podhrasky (Dallas, Texas) led a group of seven Minutewomen that earned all-Atlantic 10 Conference honors as selected by the conference head coaches and released today by the A-10 office. Podhrasky, who is 7-6 with a 1.35 goals against average and .793 save percentage in 15 games this season, was named to the first team and selected the Defensive Player-of-the-Year.

Joining Podhrasky on the first team were juniors Brooke Bartlett (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Sarah Cook (Cincinnati, Ohio), both first time selections. Bartlett, a forward, led the team with nine assists and a career-high 21 points this season. She also was tops on the team with 12 points in conference play. Cook, the team captain, led a defense that allowed just 19 goals in 18 games this season.

Martha Conover (Liverpool, N.Y.), also a first time selection, earned second team honors. The junior midfielder was just one of three players to start all 18 games, tallying three goals and three assists for a career-best nine points and tying her for sixth in team scoring. Conover earned A-10 Player-of-the-Week honors Monday (Oct. 30) for scoring a goal in each of UMass' wins last weekend, including the game winner-versus La Salle Sunday (Oct. 29).

Forward Erin Lilly (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and midfielders Michelle Luttati (Westford, Mass.) and Amy Mink (West Chester, Ohio) were selected to the All-Rookie Team. Mink and Lilly rank fourth and fifth in scoring with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Mink, who ranks third among her teammates with eight points in conference play, has one game winning goal versus San Diego State (Sept. 22) and one multiple-point game (2-1--5) versus Temple (Oct. 8). Lilly is one of two players with a hat trick this season, recording one against Albany (Sept. 2). For that feat, she was selected Rookie-of-the-Week by the A-10 (Sept. 5). Luttati, who consistently marks the opposition's top player, is also a big part of the UMass defense which has held its opposition to just over one goal per game.

UMass begins its quest for its fifth conference championship Friday night (Nov. 3) at 8:00 p.m., in Cincinnati, Ohio, against host Xavier University. The winner will advance to the championship game at Noon Sunday (Nov. 5). That game will be broadcast live on the New England Sports Network as well as Fox Sports Ohio and CN8 in Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. The game will be shown on a tape delay basis on Empire Sports Network, serving the greater Buffalo area, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 8).
