Men's Soccer Falls To Dayton, 3-1

AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team (9-5-2, 5-1-1 A 10) fell to Dayton (11-3-0, 6-1-0 A-10), 3-1, this afternoon in Atlantic 10 soccer action at Totman Field.
Dayton's Sunday Isename put the Flyers on the board at the 9:05 mark with a goal off a rebound from a Denny Clanton shot. The half remained scoreless as UMass junior goalie Bryan O'Quinn (Feeding Hills, Mass.) made two saves in the half, while Dayton goalie Matt Hutchins also made two saves.
R.J. Kaszuba extended Dayton's lead to 2-0 with a goal off an indirect kick with an assist to Erik Nelson at the 55:37 mark. Patrick Wirtz gave the Flyers a 3-0 lead with a shot from the right side off a Kaszuba pass. UMass got on the board at the 82:53 mark with a unassisted goal from junior sweeper J.R. Pouncey (Houston, Texas).
O'Quinn made a total of three saves in the loss, while Hutchins stopped four shots for Dayton.
The Minutemen return to action for senior day on Sunday, Oct. 22, when they host Xavier at 1:00 p.m., at Totman Field.
