Women's Soccer Falls to TCU in UMass Classic

AMHERST, MASS. - Texas Christian forward Sherry Dick scored a goal with less than eight minutes in the game to give TCU a 2-1 win over UMass Sunday afternoon in the second day of action at the UMass Classic. UMass falls to 2-1-1 on the season, while TCU improves to 4-2 with today?s victory. Harvard defeated Alabama-Birmingham 7-1 in the first game of the day. Harvard improves to 2-0, while UAB falls to 1-5.
Senior Emma Kurowski (Sutton, Mass.) scored the game?s first goal on a chip in shot from a pass from sophomore Kristi Robicheau (Marshfield, Mass.) at 59:53. TCU tied the game when Alecia Grieshaber scored on a dropped save by UMass keeper Cori Stevens (Greensboro, N.C). Stevens saved the initial shot, but the ball bounced out of her hands and Greishaber netted the tying goal at 67:05. Dick knocked in the game winner off a free kick served from Allison Calleri at 82:20.
In the first game Harvard dominated UAB, winning by a 7-1 margin. All seven Crimson goals were scored by different players. Jessica Larson led all Harvard scorers with a goal and two assists on the afternoon.
UMass will hit the road next weekend playing at the William and Mary Tournament. UMass faces Old Dominion on Sept. 17 at noon, and then takes on the host William & Mary on Sunday, Sept 19 at 2:30 p.m.
