DAYTON, Ohio - Sophomore Fred Kinateder (Waukesha, Wis.) scored the game-winning goal on a rebound off of the goalpost with just under ten minutes to play in the second overtime period, lifting UMass to a 2-1 win over Dayton in Atlantic 10 play this afternoon at Baujuan Field. UMass (10-5, 5-2 Atlantic 10) got on the scoreboard first when senior Adam Black (San Jose, Calif.) scored his 12th goal of the season at 12:47. Dayton (7-6-1, 3-4), the defending Atlantic 10 champions, tied the game at 1-1 with just nine seconds to play in the first half as R.J. Kaszuba headed in a Wade Fischer corner kick. Kaszuba?s goal proved to be the last for over 65 minutes until Kinateder?s goal at 110:05. Jeff Krempec made three saves in defeat for the Flyers.
UMass has now won 10 of its last 13 games. UMass has also locked up its 10th, 10-win season in the history of the program, and the seventh 10-win season since Sam Koch took over as head coach in 1991.
