- Email:
Rich Worsell brings more than two decades of coaching experience, including 15 years as an offensive coordinator, with a track record of building record-setting offenses.
Worsell most recently served as offensive coordinator at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, a role he assumed in 2022. He oversaw all offensive operations, including game planning, practice organization, staff management and offensive line development, while also leading recruiting strategy for the position group.
Under his direction, Oshkosh’s offense produced some of the most prolific numbers in program history, averaging 417 yards and 33.6 points per game in 2022 and improving to 433 yards and 37.2 points per game in 2023. The unit ranked among national leaders in passing production and third-down conversions and led the WIAC in multiple offensive categories. Worsell was named Hansen Analytics Regional Offensive Coordinator of the Year in 2022. His tenure has also included the development of All-Americans and a National Offensive Player of the Year.
Prior to Oshkosh, Worsell served as director of football research and analytics and tight ends coach at the University of Akron from 2019–22. In the newly created role, he built the program’s analytics infrastructure, producing advanced scouting systems, real-time game strategy analysis and long-range roster modeling. He worked across all three phases of the game, advised situational decision-making on game day and oversaw video, creative media and recruiting content operations. His impact extended assisting with international recruiting and multiple defensive and special teams roles.
Worsell spent eight seasons at the University of La Verne (2011–19) as associate head coach and offensive coordinator, helping engineer one of the most successful stretches in program history. The Leopards captured the 2015 SCIAC championship — the school’s first conference title in 20 years — and earned an NCAA playoff berth while setting 11 school records and producing multiple All-Americans. He oversaw offensive staff operations, recruiting, academic support programming and budget management, while also serving as an adjunct faculty member in kinesiology. His leadership extended to community engagement initiatives, equipment partnerships and large-scale camp operations that generated significant revenue and regional exposure.
Worsell was offensive coordinator and head men’s and women’s swim coach at Illinois College (2008–11), where he led dual-sport program management, set 18 school football records and launched the institution’s swim program from the ground up. He also served as pass game coordinator at Millikin University (2005–08), graduate assistant receivers coach at Lakeland University (2003–05) and held multiple international coaching roles, including with the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe, Sussex Thunder and other UK-based clubs.
Worsell earned an MBA from Lakeland University in 2005 and holds a bachelor’s degree in software engineering from the University of Wales–Aberystwyth, where his research centered on real-time statistical analysis in football.
