Former UMass standout forward/midfielder, Vanessa Patry, enters her first season as an assistant coach at her alma mater.

Patry, a native of Delmar, N.Y., completed a stellar playing career with the Minutewomen last fall. The two-time captain and Team MVP led the 2008 squad in scoring with 13 points on five goals and three assists.

An All-Atlantic 10 selection in 2007 and a SoccerBuzz All-Northeast Region honoree in 2006, Patry played in 70 career games at UMass with 69 starts. She totaled 14 goals and 16 assists for 44 career points.

Off the field, Patry excelled in the classroom as a double major in Biology and Neuroscience. She was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team and to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team in 2008.
