2022 (Junior): Appeared in seven games and started one … Tallied on shot on target vs. Boston University (9/8) … Recorded 266 minutes for the Minutewomen.

2021 (Sophomore): Appeared in one game for the Minutewomen.

2020-21 (Freshman): Made three appearances ... Registered two shots with one on goal ... Had a shot on target at Rhode Island (3/28).

Before UMass: Played club for the FC Stars of Massachusetts ECNL, and was part of the ODP Regional Pool in 2014 … Attended Central Catholic High School, where she was a Merrimack Valley Conference All-Star in 2017 … Also ran cross country while in high school.

Dowiak on Khartabil: Layal is one of the most athletic and physically gifted players that we have recruited since we have arrived in Massachusetts. She is also a tremendous leader, very mature on the field, and knows how to communicate with her team and help direct her teammates around. She also took a lot of the set pieces for her club team, so she is a gifted playmaker in that sense, but what is most exciting about her is the athletic qualities she brings and the depth to a backline that we were really needing to fill. She has a great approach to how she talks with her teammates. We are really excited about her leadership qualities.
