Alumna Jessica George enters her fifth season on the UMass women’s basketball staff after returning to the program as the Director of Scouting & Video Operations in September of 2020 before moving to the Director of Basketball Operations role for the 2021-22 season. George was named the Director of Player Development on head coach Mike Leflar’s staff prior to the 2023-24 season.
As the Director of Scouting & Video, George was responsible for coordinating all video aspects of scouting and preparation for opponents, film exchange, as well as various other support duties within the team. She will also help coordinate summer camp programs and events.
George, a native of Waldorf, Maryland, played in 105 games with Massachusetts from 2015-19. One of the most improved players in recent program history, George went from seeing action in 13 games as a freshman to co-captaining the Maroon and White as a senior in 2018-19. That season, she started all 32 contests and averaged 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. UMass made its first trip to the Atlantic 10 Quarterfinals since 2005 and ended with 16 victories, at that time the most since 2006-07.
George is an alumna of UMass' McCormack Department of Sport Management, housed in the Isenberg School of Management.
