As a goaltender at Holy Cross, Stewart was one of the best in school history. In 1978 he was an All-American, posting a 3.05 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. In 1998, Stewart became only the third of five hockey players to be inducted into the Holy Cross Hall of Fame.
Stewart spent a year as the goaltending coach at New Hampshire in 1984 and coached at R.P.I. during its 1985 ECAC and NCAA championship year where he was involved in all facets of the program. Stewart followed his time at R.P.I. with a return to his alma mater. He was an assistant coach with Holy Cross from 1988-2002, and was involved in the Crusaders[apos] MAAC championship in 1999. Stewart[apos]s playing career included time in the American, Central, International and East Coast Hockey Leagues as well as overseas in Northern Sweden.
Stewart and his wife, Kathryn, have two daughters, Emily and Megan. They reside in Spencer, Mass.
