Matt Chapman begins his second season at UMass as the Assistant Offensive Line Coach. He will work with Offensive Coordinator Brian Picucci and Centers & Guards Coach Guido Falbo in various duties.
In his first season at UMass in 2008, the Minutemen ranked third in the nation in fewest sacks allowed (0.5 per game). Chapman helped in coaching the line including All-American Vladimir Ducasse.
Chapman came to UMass after five seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater Nichols College in Dudley, Mass. He finished his time with the Bison as the team[apos]s offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator. He also served as an offensive line coach prior to that. Chapman also served as the defensive coordinator for the men[apos]s lacrosse team from 2005-08.
A 2004 graduate of Nichols College, Chapman earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and is working to his MBA.
A native of Falmouth, Mass., Chapman played two seasons at Nichols College before knee injuries cut his career short. He was a member of the 2001 Bison team which captured the Boyd Division Championship.
