Former UMass outfielder Rich Graef recently completed his third season with the Minutemen coaching staff in 2016. Starting in 2015 he became an assistant coach after serving as a volunteer assistant in 2014.

Graef appeared in 143 games, starting 126, in his four-year career with the Minutemen and hit .289 (135-for-467) with 76 runs scored, 45 RBI and 27 stolen bases. As a senior in 2013, he led UMass with 30 runs scored and was one of two players to start all 45 games. The assistant captain recorded a batting average of .261 with 15 RBI and went 13-for-18 on stolen base attempts. He also notched 12 multi-hit games, four multi-RBI games and ended his collegiate career on a five-game hitting streak.

Graef graduated from UMass in 2013 with a degree in Sport Management and was the team's 2013 winner of the Coaches Award. He is a native of Simsbury, Conn.
