Dick Baker focused on local product Frank Vatrano in his recap of UMass' 5-2 win in the squad's exhibition matchup against the U.S. Under-18 Team on Sunday:

In computer science, there's a "five-minute rule" for deciding whether a data item should be kept in memory or stored on a disk.

If there was a five-minute rule to determine whether a player should become a distant memory, it would depend on how he handled hockey's version of the disk.

In his first unofficial game with the University of Massachusetts, Frankie Vatrano of East Longmeadow beat that clock by scoring at 4:01 of the first period Sunday to send the Minutemen off to a 5-2 exhibition win over the U.S. National Under-18 squad at the Mullins Center.
