University of Massachusetts softball Head Coach Kristi Stefanoni has announced that 2015 UMass graduate Quianna Diaz-Patterson has returned to her alma mater as a volunteer assistant coach.

The 2015 ECAC Player of the Year started in all 176 career games, all but 12 at the shortstop position, during her time with the Minutewomen and is coming off of a tour with the Puerto Rican national team this past summer.

As a senior in 2015, Diaz-Patterson hit a blistering .504, good for third in the country, with 40 runs scored, 12 doubles three triples and nine home runs. It marked the highest batting average in UMass history, topping the previous record of .469 set in 1993 by Sheri Kuchinskas. The Amherst native also set school records in on-base percentage (.592) and slugging percentage (.866), as well, and was named to both the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and the NFCA All-Region First Team in addition to her Player of the Year accolade.
