OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Redshirt sophomore Anthony Tirado was named to the 2026 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch List on Wednesday, as announced by the College Baseball Foundation.

The Brooks Wallace Award honors the nation's top shortstop, with Tirado being one of 100 shortstops in the country to be placed on the watch list. He is also one of five players from the Mid-American Conference to earn a spot on the list, joining players from Central Michigan, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan.

This season, Tirado holds a .429 batting average, a .429 slugging percentage and a .467 on-base percentage. He has accumulated 12 hits, three runs, six RBI, walked once and has had only five strikeouts in 28 at-bats, so far.

Defensively, the redshirt sophomore has had 11 putouts, six assists and no errors for a 1.00 fielding percentage.

The Brooks Wallace Award is named for former Texas tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace passed away of leukemia at the age of 27. The award will be presented later this year by the College Baseball Foundation.
