Massachusetts Men's Track Dominates At Flagship Spring Opener

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men's track and field program opened the outdoor season at home on Saturday at the UMass Track & Field Complex. The Minutemen dominated, taking the top spot in 9 events and recording 18 top-three finishes.

Highlights From Competition:
- The trio of Collin Catherwood, Riley Cole and Cyrus Hansen swept the podium in the men's 10k, with times of 30:28.48, 30:44.20 and 30:45.32, respectively. Liam Ouellette (5th), Erik Unger (8th) and Liam Davidson (10th) registered top-10 times with finishes of 31:06.85, 31:46.54 and 31:55.28, respectively.
- In his first outdoor meet, first-year Archie Pinder took the top spot in the men's 1500m run with a time of 4:01.05. Fellow first-year Logan Walsh placed shortly behind, taking second with a time of 4:04.96.
- Michael Sanchez placed third in the men's 400m run with a time of 49.92. Elijah Wolinski placed seventh with a time of 51.35.
- Adithya Hari placed first in the men's 100m dash with a time of 11.19.
- Josh Exantus claimed gold in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 15.14.
- Logan Walsh claimed second in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:59.67. Archie Pinder placed eighth with a time of 2:01.98.
- Chris Scalia placed first in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 55.90. Corey Sanders narrowly missed a podium finish, taking fourth in 58.19.
- Godot Gaskins claimed gold in the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.05. Winston Lewis (3rd) and Noah Mulligan (4th) secured top-four times with finishes of 22.88 and 23.04.
- Kailas Ciatto (2nd), Attikos Kaye (3rd), Alec Carew (4th) and Tyler Medeiros (5th) placed consecutively in the men's 5k with times of 15:03.69, 15:13.33, 15:13.64, 15:23.02. Altamo Aschkenasy (9th) and Riley Hubisz (10th) rounded out the top-10 with finishes of 15:55.70 and 16:09.30.
- Noah Mulligan, Chris Scalia, Corey Sanders and Godot Gaskins combined to run a 3:34.64 in the men's 4x400m relay, taking gold.
- Aiden Lee placed second in the men's high jump with a clear of 6'1.50".
- Owen Stevens (21'7.50") and Elijah Wolinski (21'7.50") took the top spots in the men's long jump. Matthew Acquah placed fifth with a leap of 20'8.75.
- Matthew Acquah placed first in the men's triple jump with a leap of 46'5".
- Nicholas Gallagher placed fourth in the men's shot put with a throw of 39'8.75".
- Aiden Donovan placed second in the men's discuss with a throw of 154'10".
- Jack Freyler took the top spot in the men's javelin with a toss of 183'6". Hunter Camara placed third with a throw of 175'10".
- Aaron Fishler placed sixth in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 149'11".
