Massachusetts Women's Track Has Strong Weekend At ECAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team had a big weekend at the ECAC Championships in Boston, Mass. on Sunday, with the Minutewomen securing six podium finishes and two golds, as well as 12 athletes moving up on the all-time indoor women's program record lists. 

  

Highlights from Competition: 

  • Jillian Strynar qualified for the finals in the women's 60m dash, taking ninth place with a finish of 7.68.  
  • Ashley Johnson took eighth in the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.02 in the finals after qualifying with a time of 24.60.  
  • Ashley Johnson claimed gold in the women's 400m run with a finish of 55.26.  
  • Ingibjorg Sigurdardottir claimed gold in the women's 500m dash, crossing the finish line in 1:13.66.  
  • Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio secured bronze in the women's 1k with a time of 2:49.15.  
  • Agnes Thundal secured bronze in the women's mile with a finishing time of 4:47.43. Allison Chmielewski placed seventh crossing at 4:57.06.  
  • Leann Lombardi placed sixth in the women's 3k with a time of 9:46.20.  
  • Anna McElhinney secured bronze in the womens 5k with a time of 17:05.89. The duo of Rylee Davis (5th) and Anna Todd (6th) placed back-to-back with times of 17:14.16 and 17:17.95, respectively.  
  • Jennifer Williams placed fourth in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.80. 
  • Ashley Johnson, Leila MetresIngibjorg Sigurdardottir and Marielsa McBride combined to run a 3:50.15 in the womens 4x400m relay, good enough for fifth place. 
  • Bridget Lee (4th) and Shakira Cadet (5th) placed back-to—back in the women's long jump with leaps of 18'10" and 18'9.75".  
  • Ruth Michel secured bronze in the women's triple with a distance of 39'0.25". Shakira Cadet claimed seventh with a leap of 38'10.25".  
  • Jaliyah Burns (4th), Coco Van Nyatten (7th) and Natalie Krysta (9th) all placed in the top-10 in the women's weight throw with tosses of 54'7.5", 52'3.75" and 50'11".  
  • Natalie Krysta (6th), Mattie Bishop (7th) and Eve Segal (8th) finished consecutively in the women's shot put with throws of 42'4.75", 41'11.75" and 41'2.5".  
  • Tesaira Williams placed fourth in the women's pentathlon with a total score of 3322.
