Cadet Claims Gold As Minutewomen Sit In Third At Day One Of MAC Indoors

Mount Pleasant, Mich. – The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team ranks in a three-way tie for third place after the opening day of the MAC Indoor Championships in Mount, Pleasant, Mich. The day was highlighted by jumper Shakira Cadet taking a narrow long jump victory in the last event of the afternoon.

- Tesaira Williams placed fourth in the women's pentathlon, with a total score of 3,746. Williams placed in the top-five in the shot put (5th), long jump (5th) and high jump (2nd) with performances of 37'6.5", 18'2.25" and 5'7.25", respectively.
- Ashley Johnson qualified for the women's 400m final with a preliminary time of 57.23, good enough for 7th place.
- Shakira Cadet claimed gold in the women's long jump with a leap of 20'0.5". Cadet becomes the first MAC gold medalist in program history.
- Megan Frazee placed fifth in the women's pole vault with a clear of 12'3.5".
- Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio, Leila Metres, Agnes Thundal and Allison Chmielewski combined to run a 11:46.66 in the women's DMR, securing fifth place.
- The Minutewomen return to action for the final day of the MAC Championships, with the first event starting at 10:00 a.m.
