Catherwood Secures Silver As Minutemen Rank Fourth At Opening Day Of MAC Indoors

Mount Pleasant, Mich. – The University of Massachusetts men's track and field team ranks fourth place after the opening day of the MAC Indoor Championships in Mount, Pleasant, Mich. The day was highlighted by distance runner Collin Catherwood taking silver in the men's 5K. 

Highlights from Competition:
  • Tyler Fotune (6th) and Jason DeJesus (7th) qualified for the men's 60m dash with preliminary times of 6.93 and 6.94, respectively. 
  • Quinn Hardt (4th) and Elijah Wolinski (8th) qualified for the men's 60m hurdles with preliminary times of 8.11 and 8.57, respectively. 
  • Godot Gaskins qualified for the finals in the men's 200m and 400m with times of 21.68 and 48.59, respectively. 
  • Colin Kirn earned a spot in the men's 800m final with a second-best time of 1:53.54 in the preliminary round.
  • Collin Catherwood claimed silver in the men's 5k with a time of 14:17.56. Cyrus Hansen (7th) and Liam Ouellette (8th) placed consecutive for the Minutemen with times of 14:42.72 and 14:47.08, respectively. 
  • The combination of Kailas Ciatto, Michael Sanchez, Colin Kirn and Altamo Aschkenasy ran a 10:12.22 in the men's DMR, claiming bronze.
