Women's Track And Field Claims Four Gold Medals At URI Coaches Invitatonal

North Kingston, R.I. – The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team had an impressive weekend showing at the URI Coaches Invitational and BU Valetine Invite on Friday and Saturday, with four Minutewomen taking first place honors in their respective events. 

Highlights from Competiton: 

  • Tesaira Williams secured fourth place in the women's long jump with a leap of 17'1". Ruth Michel placed sixth with a jump of 16'11.50".  
  • Mattie Bishop took gold in the women's shot put with a toss of 44'1.25". Natalie Krysta rounded out the top five with a throw of 42'6.75 and the duo of Eve Segal (7th) and Tess Rancourt (8th) placed consecutively with throws of 41'1.75 and 40'1", respectively.  
  • Jaliyah Burns claimed gold in the women's weight throw with a toss of 54'10". Coco Van Nynatten took silver with a throw of 53'11". Natalie Krysta rounded out the top five with a toss of 49'10", and Mattie Bishop took ninth with 45'6".  
  • Maia Perillo and Megan Frazee each cleared 11'6.25 in the women's pole vault to share sixth place. 
  • Jennifer Williams claimed gold in the women's 60m hurdles with a finishing time of 8.74. 
  • Leila Metres secured silver in the women's 400m dash with a time of 58.70.  
  • Jillian Strynar and Jana DeRaedt took the top two spots in the women's 60m dash, finishing in 7.75 and 7.83.  
  • Anna Shaw took fourth in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:20.72. Simone Harrison rounded out the top eight with a finish of 2:25.96. 
  • Jillian Strynar claimed gold in the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.75. 
  • Leila Metres, Jana DeRaedt, Jennifer Williams and Tesaira Williams combined to run a 4:03.03 in the women's 4x400m relay to claim silver.
