Men's Track And Field Has Strong Weekend At Valentine and URI Coaches Invite

North Kingston, R.I. – The University of Massachusetts men's track and field team had an impressive weekend showing at the URI Coaches Invitational and BU Valetine Invite on Friday and Saturday, with four Minutemen taking first place honors in their respective events and a program record falling.
URI Coaches Invitational
Highlights from Competiton:
- Matthew Acquah secured bronze in the men's triple jump with a leap of 46'11.50".
- Aiden Donovan claimed bronze in the men's shot put with a throw of 52'5.25."
- Aaron Fishler earned bronze in the men's weight throw with a toss of 52'7".
- Quinn Hardt scored in the men's high jump, taking eighth place with a clear of 6'4.5"
- Hunter Feitel placed third in the men's pole vault with a clear of 14'7.5".
- The Minutemen claimed five of the top nine spots in the men's mile, with Altamo Aschkenasy taking the top spot finishing in 4:16.21. Alec Carew (4th), Riley Cole (5th), Tyler Medeiros (7th) and Cyrus Hansen (9th) followed suit, crossing the finish line in 4:17.31, 4:20.12, 4:21.36 and 4:22.82, respectively.
- Colin Kirn and Michael Sanchez took the top two spots in the men's 400m dash, finishing in 50.54 and 50.58, respectively.
- Jason DeJesus claimed gold in the men's 60m dash with a time of 6.85. Mark Sten rounded out the top eight with a time of 7.98.
- Tyler Medeiros (2nd), Logan Walsh (3rd), Emmett Johnson (4th) and Altamo Aschkenasy (5th) finished consecutively in the men's 800m with times of 1:56.81, 1:57.14, 1:57.16 and 1:57.51.
- Collin Catherwood claimed bronze in the men's 1k with a time of 2:26.85. Colin Kirn placed fourth with a time of 2:31.46.
- Godot Gaskins and Winston Lewis took the top two spots in the men's 200m dash with finishes of 22.06 and 22.73.
- Collin Catherwood claimed gold in the men's 3k with 8:30.03, with Attikos Kaye taking silver with a time of 8:37.97. Liam Ouellette placed sixth with a time of 8:38.95.
- Emmett Johnson, Logan Walsh, Archie Pinder and Parker Broderick combined to run an 8:06.53 in the women's 4x800m relay to claim gold.
- Elijah Wolinski, Noah Mulligan, Winston Lewis and Godot Gaskins combined to run a 3:49.69 in the men's 4x400m relay to win gold.
BU Valentine Invitational
Highlights from Competition:
- Mark Sten, Michael Sanchez, Michael Harden and Godot Gaskins combined to run a 3:12.37 in the men's 4x400m relay, taking fourth place and setting a program record.
