The Matchup
  • Massachusetts has faced Miami (Ohio) twice in program history, posting a 2-0 record.
  • The Minutemen and the RedHawks competed in a home-and-home series over the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. 
  • The team first met on January 2, 2013, in Oxford, Ohio, where Massachusetts narrowly won 70-69 with Raphiael Putney (20 points, nine rebounds) leading the way for UMass.
  • The second meeting came on January 4, 2014, when Massachusetts secured a 73-65 victory at the Mullins Center.
  • Chaz Williams led the Minutemen in scoring with 18 points. 
Last Time out
  • Massachusetts came up with several clutch possessions down the stretch to edge Buffalo, 68-67, last Friday night, to improve to 4-5 in the MAC. 
  • Graduate student Marcus Banks Jr., scored a team-leading 19 points, knocking down four three-pointers on the night. 
  • Leonardo Bettiol followed with 16 points, shooting 7-for-10 from the field, and tallying seven rebounds. 
  • Daniel Hankins-Sanford registered his eight double-double of the season with 15 points and a game-high 10 boards, going 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
Scouting the REDHAWKS
  • Miami (OH) enters Tuesday's game with a 20-game win streak, after defeating Kent State on the road, 107-101 last Tuesday. 
  • RedHawks Head Coach Travis Steele is in his fourth season at Miami (OH), accumulating a 72-46 (41-25 MAC) overall record during his time in Oxford, Ohio. 
  • Brant Byers leads the team in points, averaging 15.2 per game, and ranking 12th in the league. 
  • Eian Elmer and Antwone Woolfolk lead the RedHawks in rebounds, averaging 5.8 and 5.3, respectively. Elmer is ranked 14th in the MAC, while Woolfolk is 22nd in the conference. 
  • The RedHawks are 20-0 overall and 8-0 in the MAC.
 
Year Four Under Coach Martin
  • Massachusetts basketball enters its fourth season under head coach Frank Martin in 2025-26.
  • Martin and the Minutemen finished the 2024-25 season with 12 wins, including seven in conference play. Under Martin's tutelage guard Rahsool Diggins had a breakout senior season, averaging a team-high 16.8 points on his way to earning All-Atlantic 10 Third Team honors.
  • In 2023-24 Martin led the Minutemen to their best season since 2014, finishing with a 20-11 overall record and securing a top-four seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
  • Coach Martin started his time in Amherst by leading the Minutemen to their best record under a first-year head coach since 1996 and the Myrtle Beach Invitational title during the 2022-23 campaign.
  • Martin holds a 344-255 (.575) collegiate coaching mark, picking up 171 of his wins in 10 seasons at South Carolina while recording 117 wins in five seasons at Kansas State.
  • Head coach Frank Martin picked up his 300th collegiate coaching win on Jan. 25, 2023 with a 85-76 win over Richmond.
TIP-OFF TIDBITS
  • UMass has held opponents to a 29.2 shooting percentage from three, ranking first in the conference and 18th in the country. 
  • UMass' +6.1 rebounding margin ranks second in the MAC.
  • Massachusetts ranks third in offensive rebounds per game (12.33).
  • The Minutemen rank third in the MAC and 32nd nationally by averaging 17.6 assists per game. 
  • Massachusetts' nine MAC games have been decided by a combined 36 points or 4.00 points per contest. 
  • UMass features four players averaging double figures in points including Leonardo Bettiol (17.1), Marcus Banks Jr. (16.2), Daniel Hankins-Sanford (11.7) and K'jei Parker (11.6).
  • Bettiol and Banks Jr., rank seventh and ninth, respectively, in points per game in the MAC.
  • Bettiol is also shooting 60.5 percent from the field to rank first in the league and 25th nationally.
  • Bettiol is also averaging 7.5 rebounds per game to rank fifth in the MAC, while Hankins-Sanford ranks eighth (7.2). 
  • Among MAC players, Banks Jr., ranks first in three-point attempts (177), second in three pointers made (66) and in three pointers per game (3.14), and third in three-point percentage (37.3). 
  • Danny Carbuccia's 6.0 assists per game rank second in the MAC and 32nd in the country, while his 3.21 assist/turnover ratio is second in the league and 33rd in the country. 
  • Carbuccia ranks third in the country among freshmen in both categories.
  • Carbuccia's 4.00 assist to turnover ratio in MAC games also ranks second in league games, as does his 6.67 assists per game mark. 
  • Hankins-Sanford (8) and Bettiol (3) each have multiple double-doubles this season.
  • Hankins-Sanford's eight double-doubles are the second most in the MAC.
