Tennis Returns Home For Two Matches

The Minutewomen face Boston University on Friday, March 28, before hosting Davidson on Sunday, March 30.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis returns to Amherst for a two-match weekend. UMass takes on Boston University on Friday, March 28, at 6 p.m., before welcoming Atlantic 10 rival Davidson on Sunday, March 30, at 11 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.
Last Time Out
The Minutewomen improved to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in the A-10 Conference, after edging out Richmond, 4-3, last Saturday.
After the Spiders claimed the doubles point, the Minutewomen started a comeback in singles competition with Mariana Campino winning 6-2, 6-2 at court No. 1. Ella Faessler followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles to give UMass the lead. Richmond grabbed another point, before Martina Pavissich secured Massachusetts' third point of the day with a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 5.
The two teams were tied with another point going to the spiders, but Amelia Tye clinched the match point for the Minutewomen with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory over her opponent.
Scouting Boston University
The Boston University Terriers hold a 6-7 overall record and are coming off a 5-2 victory over Lehigh last Sunday.
Scouting Davidson
Davidson sits at 10-4 overall and 0-2 in the A-10 Conference. The Wildcats fell, most recently, on Sunday to Brown, 4-3. In league competition, Davidson dropped its match to Fordham, 4-3, and VCU, 6-1, earlier on the year.
The Wildcats will make a stop at Rhode Island on Saturday, prior to Sunday's match with Massachusetts.
Weekly Honors
Faessler collected the first Atlantic 10 weekly award of the year for the Minutewomen on February 4. The junior tabbed the A-10 Player of the Week accolade, which marked the first weekly honor of her career. On the week, Faessler went 2-0 in singles competition and 1-0 in doubles play.
