Massachusetts Baseball Claims Series Finale Over Coppin State, 22-7

The Minutemen earned their first series win of the season with game three victory.
It marked the second straight game for UMass with 22 runs, making it the 25th time in program history the Minutemen scored 20 or more runs in a game.
Anthony Tirado and Ryan Kolben led the team in hits with four, while the duo added three runs and three RBI each. In addition to Tirado and Kolben, Jack Beverly, Carter Hanson and Jared Muñoz contributed three runs apiece, as Braden Sullivan, Matt Travisnao and Sam Hill had two each. Travisano led with five RBI with Hanson adding two.
Tirado and Hanson each had a home run, marking the second of the year for Tirado and first of the season for Hanson. Kolben hit his second and third double of the season with two on the afternoon. Beverly, Travisano and Hill also hit a double in the day.
Tirado started off the first inning with a single to right field, before Sullivan reached first after being hit by a pitch. Kolben then hit an RBI single to score Tirado to make it a 1-0 game. A wild pitch allowed Sullivan to score and give the Minutemen a 2-0 lead.
Coppin State hit an inside-the-park home run to make it a 2-1 contest. The Eagles added two more runs in the second inning to take a 3-2 lead.
Hanson registered his first home run of the season with two outs to knot the game up at 3-3 in the third. The top of the fourth saw a two-run homer from Tirado, marking his second of the season, bringing home Marc Willi, as well, to reclaim a 5-3 lead. In the bottom of the frame, CSU had a home run to get back within one, as UMass held the 5-4 lead.
Massachusetts pulled ahead, 9-4, with a four-year fifth inning. The inning included a two RBI single from Travisano. Coppin State tacked on three runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 9-7 game.
UMass added six more runs in the sixth to push ahead, 15-7. A double from Travisano in the seventh scored Kolben and Muñoz to extend the Minutemen's lead to 17-7, before a wild pitch helped Travisano to cross home plate. Back-to-back-to-back singles from Beverly, Kolben and Hanson brought in four runs total to make it a 21-7 contest.
Andrew Middleton struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to help Massachusetts to a 22-7 triumph.
Jack Levine entered the game for the Minutemen in the third inning, tossing three complete innings with four runs on five hits and two strikeouts to receive the win. Middleton took the mound for the final two innings, allowing no hits, no runs, walking three and striking out five.
Kaden Straily had the loss for Coppin State, going five complete innings with nine runs on eight hits, three walks and four strikeouts.
