Massachusetts Women’s Track and Field Continues Season Success in the Valentine and Giegengack Invitationals

AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team had another impressive weekend, posting four new top-10 placements in the all-time program performance list at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston on Friday and the Giegengack Invitational in New Haven, Conn. on Saturday.

Massachusetts returns to action next weekend to compete in the Brown Invitational at the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center (OMAC) on Feb. 22.

- Rylee Shunney crossed the finish line in 4:50.86 in the women's mile, good enough for the ninth-fastest time in program history.
- Natalie Krysta (9th) finished inside the top-10 of the women's shot put with a throw of 40'8.25". Tess Rancourt was not far behind, finishing 12th with a toss of 38'6.75".
- Shakira Cadet earned bronze in the women's long jump with a leap of 18'3", with Bridget Lee rounding out the top five (T-5th) soaring 18'0.75".
- Jaliyah Burns placed sixth in the women's weight throw with a toss of 52'7.25", with Natalie Krysta claiming eighth with her throw of 51'3.5".
- Courtney Rowland secured a silver in the women's high jump, clearing 5'5". Tesaira Williams earned bronze also jumping 5'5", with Shakira Cadet placed sixth with 5'1".
- The Minutewomen swept the top three spots in the women's pole vault, with Chloe Taylor taking home gold clearing 12'5.5, Megan Frazee earning silver with 12'5.5 and Maia Perillo claiming bronze with 11'11.75. Emilie Bell (8th) also finished in the top-10 with a jump of 10'6". Taylor and Frazee's clears were also good enough to claim the ninth-and-tenth-best vaults in program history.
- Ruth Michel placed fourth in the women's triple jump with a distance of 38'7.75. Gabrielle Bilong earned a seventh-place finish jumping 37'7.75, with Winnie Sekyaya (8th) hop-skipping-and-jumping 36'4.25".
- Katelyn Gorgenyi (5th), Jennifer Williams (6th) and Lillian Kirry (8th) crossed the finish line in the women's 60m hurdles with times of 8.87, 8.89 and 9.00, respectively.
- Alexandria Scott earned a fifth place finish in the women's 400m run running in 58.61.
- Anna Shaw (4th) and Salma Boukhtam (8th) placed in the top-10 in the women's 800m run, finishing in 2:17.96 and 2:20.60, respectively.
- India Ingemi claimed fifth place in the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.39, with Jana De Raedt (6th) and Alysia Spencer (10th) breaking into the top-10 finishing in 25.49 and 25.76, respectively.
- Sadai Headley-Mawasi, India Ingemi, Caroline Mullady and Lillian Kirry combined to run a 3:51.70 in the women's 4x400 relay, claiming silver. Salma Boukhtam, Naomi D'Souza, Diamani Canuto and Anna Shaw (4th) also placed inside the top-five, crossing the finish line in 4:08.57.
