Massachusetts Women’s Track and Field Opens Indoor Season at Harvard Classic

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team kicked off their indoor season in impressive fashion, posting 12 top-three finishes at the Harvard Classic on Saturday in Cambridge.
Highlights from Competition:
- The trio of Rylee Davis (2nd), Anna Todd (3rd) and Anna McElhinney (4th) claimed top five finishes in the women's 5k with times of 17:32.38, 17:35.66 and 17:50, respectively.
- First-year Ingibjorg Sigurdardottir took gold in the women's 400m, finishing in 58.19.
- Ashley Johnson took fourth in the women's 500m running in 1:16.95. Marielsa McBride also scored, finishing in 1:19.86 with Leila Metres rounding out the top 10 with a time of 1:22.53.
- Jillian Strynar took seventh in the women's 60m dash with a time of 7.88.
- Jillian Strynar (2nd) and Jana DeRaedt (3rd) each claimed podium finishes in the women's 200m dash with times of 25.34 and 25.46, respectively.
- The combination of Ingibjorg Sigurdardottir, Jennifer Williams, Leila Metres and Ashley Johnson took silver in the women's 4x440y relay.
- Tesaira Williams earned silver in the women's high jump, leaping over 5'5".
- Jaliyah Burns took bronze in the women's weight throw with a toss of 54'1.75". First-year Coco Van Nynatten (4th) and Mattie Bishop (6th) each claimed top-six performances with throws of 50'11.5" and 45'9.75, respectively.
- Bridget Lee secured gold in the women's long jump with a leap of 18'8.5". Shakira Cadet also medaled, earning bronze with a jump of 18'5.25. Ruth Michel's total distance of 17'6.75 was good enough for seventh place.
- Ruth Michel took gold in the women's triple jump, hop-skip-jumping a distance of 39'4.5". Shakira Cadet (4th) narrowly missed the podium with a jump of 37'9.25".
- Natalie Krysta claimed bronze in the women's shot put with a throw of 43'7". Tess Rancourt (7th) and Eve Segal (8th) each scored with tosses of 40'6.25" each, and Mattie Bishop rounded out the top 10 with a distance of 38'0".
- Maia Perillo earned bronze in the women's pole vault, clearing 11'9.75". Ainsley Hileman took fourth with a height of 11'3.75".
