The Matchup
  • Massachusetts and Bowling Green will be meeting for the first time.  
  •  UMass football closed out the 2025 season against Bowling Green, marking the fifth all-time meeting between the two football programs.
  •  Massachusetts hockey has played the Falcons on two occasions, earning a win in the first all-time meeting, 5-4, on Dec. 28, 1996, but dropping the most recent meeting, 3-2, on Dec. 29, 2005.

  • Bowling Green comes to the Mullins Center on Saturday after falling, 93-83, to RV Miami (OH) on Tuesday. 
  • Falcons Head Coach Todd Simonis in his third season at Bowling Green, accumulating a 44-36 (19-19 MAC) overall record during his time in Bowling Green, Ohio.
  • Javontae Campbell and Sam Towns lead the Falcons in points, averaging 15.6 and 13.6, respectively. 
  • Towns averages 6.9 rebounds per game to lead the team and rank seventh in the MAC.
  • The Falcons are 10-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.
  • As a team, Bowling Green paces the conference allowing their opponents to score just 66.4 points per game.
Year Four Under Coach Martin
  • Massachusetts basketball enters its fourth season under head coach Frank Martin in 2025-26.
  • Martin and the Minutemen finished the 2024-25 season with 12 wins, including seven in conference play. Under Martin's tutelage guard Rahsool Diggins had a breakout senior season, averaging a team-high 16.8 points on his way to earning All-Atlantic 10 Third Team honors.
  • In 2023-24 Martin led the Minutemen to their best season since 2014, finishing with a 20-11 overall record and securing a top-four seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
  • Coach Martin started his time in Amherst by leading the Minutemen to their best record under a first-year head coach since 1996 and the Myrtle Beach Invitational title during the 2022-23 campaign.
  • Martin holds a 344-251 (.575) collegiate coaching mark, picking up 171 of his wins in 10 seasons at South Carolina while recording 117 wins in five seasons at Kansas State.
  • Head coach Frank Martin picked up his 300th collegiate coaching win on Jan. 25, 2023 with a 85-76 win over Richmond.
TIP-OFF TIDBITS
  • UMass has held opponents to a 25.7 shooting percentage from three, ranking frist in the conference and fifht in the country. 
  • UMass' +7.1 rebounding average ranks first in the MAC and 51st in the NCAA.
  • Massachusetts ranks second in the MAC in rebounds per game (39.21) and offensive rebounds per game (13.40).  
  • The Minutemen rank fourth in the MAC and 41st nationally with 17.8 assists per game. 
  • UMass features four players averaging double figures in points including Marcus Banks Jr. (16.2), Leonardo Bettiol (15.5), Daniel Hankins-Sanford (12.4) and K'Jei Parker (10.8). 
  • Banks Jr. and Bettiol rank seventh and 11th, respectively, in points per game in the MAC. 
  • In the MAC, Banks Jr. ranks fifth in three-point percentage (36.5), second in three-pointers per game (3.00), second in three pointers made (42) and first in three-point field goal attempts (115). 
  • Danny Carbuccia's 5.4 assists per game rank second in the MAC and 51st in the country. 
  • Bettiol is also averaging 7.4 rebounds per game to rank sixth in the MAC. 
  • Daniel Hankins-Sanford (5) Leo Bettiol (2) each have multiple double-doubles this season. 
  • Hankins-Sanford's five double-doubles are the second most in the MAC.
