Kenney And Hansen Honored With Atlantic 10 Cross Country Weekly Awards

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts runners senior Will Kenney and freshman Klara Hansen have both been recognized with Atlantic 10 cross country weekly awards following the opening weekend of competition of the 2024 season. Kenney was tabbed the Men's Performer of the Week while Hansen was selected as the Women's Rookie of the Week.

Kenney led the field for a second straight year at the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational this past Saturday, completing the 6K course in 18:17.73 as the individual winner. The Minutemen took first in the team scoring with 17 points, while Central Connecticut followed (53), Boston University was third (75) and Northeastern placed fourth (96).

In her UMass debut, Hansen was the No. 1 runner for the Minutewomen in second overall with a time of 14:03.08 in the 4K Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational. The Minutewomen took first in the team scoring (23 points), followed by Northeastern (55), Central Connecticut (75) and Boston University (83).
