Men's Cross Country Triumphant At Season-Opening Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's cross country took six of the top-10 spots to win the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational on Saturday morning at the UMass Cross Country Course. UMass was two points shy of a perfect score with 17 points, while Central Connecticut followed (53), Boston University was third (75) and Northeastern placed fourth (96).
 
THE UMASS TOP-FIVE
  • Will Kenney led the field for a second straight year, completing the 6K course in 18:17.73.
  • Colin Catherwood was second in 18:18.37 out of the 36-competitor field.
  • Bobby Carew placed third in 18:30.97.
  • Newcomer John Lucey took fourth in his UMass debut (18:31.67).
  • Liam Ouellette completed the Minutemen's top-five in seventh overall at 18:41.05.

The Minutemen will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 21, when the squad will head to the Ted Owens Invitational, hosted by Central Connecticut at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn. at 12 p.m.
