Meet Primer
The UMass men's cross country team will open its 2024 campaign this Saturday, August 31, hosting AIC, Boston University, Central Connecticut and Northeastern for the Ken O'Brien Invitational. In last year's meet, the Minutemen posted a perfect score, led by Will Kenney in his first individual win of his career. Kenney completed the 6K course in 18 minutes, 38.88 seconds. Head coach Tim Ritchie returns for his seventh season with a team consisting of four freshmen, one transfer and 10 returnees. Highlighting the returning group, the Minutemen bring back both Bobby Carew and Kenney for fifth years as the duo combined to take the top spot for UMass in six of seven meets last season with both runners finishing in the scoring in all six meets they competed in. Prior to the start of Saturday's race, UMass will honor the memory of former head coach Ken O'Brien who passed away in June.
