Massachusetts Tennis Adds Cosima Trinity Calinescu

Native of France will join the UMass tennis program in the fall of 2024.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis and head coach Juancarlos Nunez announced the addition of transfer Cosima Trinity Calinescu to the Minutewomen for the 2024-25 campaign.
"From our first conversations with Trinity, her energy and passion were evident," said Nunez. "In meeting her, it is clear to see how motivated and hard-working she is. She brings a lot of experience with her and is going to make a positive impact on our team. We are excited to welcome her into our team."
Calinescu, a native of Verrières le Buisson, France, comes to Amherst after spending two seasons at Southeast Missouri State University. During her two years at SEMO, she aided the Redhawks to two Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Regular Season titles and an OVC Tournament Championship.
"UMass was my dream school since I arrived in the United States," said Calinescu. "Being part of such a great academic program, as well as a team that is composed of high motivated players and coaches is unbelievable."
While with the Redhawks program, Calinescu put together an overall singles record of 47-13. In the 2023-24 season, she posted a 21-6 overall singles record, including a 12-3 mark at the No. 2 position. In doubles, Calinescu had an overall record of 15-8 with a 10-4 record at the No. 2 slot.
"I am excited to work with Trinity," said assistant coach Hannah McColgan. "In our handful of practices so far, her high work ethic and championship mindset are apparent. Can't wait for the whole team to be back together. Go UMass!"
Prior to Calinescu's collegiate career, she attended and graduated from Online French School of CNED, Rouen. She competed with club tennis teams in France, Belgium and Germany, as well.
