Massachusetts Men's Track & Field Closes Out Flagship Spring Opener

AMHERST, Mass.- The University of Massachusetts men's track and field team hosted their first home meet of the season on Sunday. The Minutemen had three first place finishes while three athletes added their names to the record books.
 

Highlights from competition:

  • The Minutemen took five of the top eight spots in the 3000m steeplechase. The top UMass finisher was junior Michael Norberg who won the event with a time of 9:10.30. Behind him was Matthew George in second, Collin Catherwood in fourth, Liam Ouellette in fifth, and Riley Cole in sixth.
  • Joachim Ennoo won the triple jump with a mark of 48' 5". The jump puts him in fifth all-time in the outdoor triple jump at UMass.
  • Behind Ennoo was freshman Emmanuel Simon who took third with a jump of 42' 7.5".
  • Ethan Clark won the 100m dash with a time of 10.52. The time is the fourth fastest in program history.
  • Freshman Colin Kirn took sixth in the 800m with a time of 1:54.27.
  • Alec Pascoe had a podium finish in the 400m hurdles, finishing in a time of 55.88 to claim third.
  • Godot Gaskins ran the fifth fastest 200m time in school history, finishing in 21.46 seconds and claiming fourth.
  • The 4x400m team consisting of Godot Gaskins, Nicholas Calitri, Colin Kirn, and Will Truncer finished third with a time of 3:23.47
 

The Minutemen will be back in action this week as they prepare to host the UMass Multi-Meet on Wednesday, April 10 and Thursday April 11.
