Seton Hall took an early 2-0 lead in the third, scoring on a RBI single and sacrifice fly. UMass got on the board in the fifth inning, as Gervasi recorded his fifth home run of the season.

In the fifth, Massachusetts continued to keep the bats going and plate four more runs.  With one out, Tichy saw four straight balls to take his place at first, before Sullivan crushed a two-run homer, registering his second of the year, helping the Minutemen to a 3-2 lead. Skagerlind and Burgess hit back-to-back singles with Skagerlind advancing to third. Burgess stole second while Travisano was at the plate, as Travisano singled to center field to drive home Skagerlind and Burgess to make it a 5-2 game.

The Minutemen's defense held off the Pirates for the remaining two innings to earn the 5-2 triumph.

Travisano started the frame off with a single up the middle, before stealing second. With two-outs, Gervasi cranked a shot over the center field wall for his second homer of the game, third of the day and seventh of the season, to push across two runs.

After a leadoff double from Sullivan, Skagerlind had a double of his own to left center field to push Sullivan across the plate in the fourth. UMass added to its lead in the top of the fifth with another leadoff double from Gervasi. With one out, Tichy doubled down the right field line to score Gervasi and make it a 7-1 game.
