Tennis Faces Syracuse On The Road

The Minutewomen take on the Orange on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m., in Syracuse, N.Y.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis heads to Syracuse, New York, to face Syracuse University at the Drumlins Country Club on Sunday, February 18, at 11 a.m. The match will be streamed on ACCNX.
Last Time Out
Massachusetts went 2-0 last weekend, defeating Georgetown, 4-1, and Army, 4-2, in West Point, New York.
Against Georgetown, the Minutewomen claimed the doubles point quickly with wins at courts No. 2 and No. 1. The Hoyas knotted the match up at 1-1 after receiving the first singles point of the day, but Danielle Hack won at No. 1 singles ,6-1, 6-3, to put UMass back on top. Ella Faessler picked up a point next with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win, before Thamonpan Jonglertrakul clinched the match for Massachusetts with a 6-7(1) 6-4, 6-0 victory.
After dropping the doubles point at Army, UMass pulled off the come-from-behind win. Jonglertrakul tied the contest at one apiece with a 6-0. 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, before Faessler defeated her opponent, 6-3, 6-2 at court No. 2. Hack grabbed a point for the Minutewomen after winning 6-4. 7-5 at No. 1 and Polina Akimova downed her opponent at No. 5, 6-1, 6-4.
Scouting Syracuse
The Orange hold a 4-1 overall record heading into Sunday's match and are coming off a 5-2 loss to Columbia on February 4. Syracuse has earned three straight 7-0 triumphs to start the season over Army, Fordham and St. Bonaventure, while winning 6-1 against Cornell.
Syracuse will take on Boston College on Saturday, February 17, prior to facing UMass on Sunday.

Massachusetts takes a break before returning to action for two matches on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3. The Minutewomen visit Dartmouth on Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. match in Hanover, New Hampshire, before welcoming LIU on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.
