Fitzpatrick To Participate In WBCA Next Generation Institute

The WBCA Next Generation Institute is a high-level education program for experiences assistant coaches who aspire to become head coaches.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's basketball assistant coach Clare Fitzpatrick will participate in the 2024 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Next Generation Institute as announced on Wednesday. The WBCA Next Generation Institute is a high-level education program for experienced assistant coaches who aspire to become head coaches.
Fitzpatrick is in her first season as an assistant coach under Mike Leflar after most recently spending four years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Holy Cross. The Southbury, Connecticut began her coaching career at Yale from 2013-15 before joining the staff at Air Force for four seasons. As a collegiate player at Cornell, the two-time All-Ivy League selection started a school record 109 games and became the second player in program history to reach 1,200 points and 600 rebounds in a career.
To be eligible for selection to participate in the program, a person must be a current WBCA member, must have at least five years' experience as a college assistant coach, and must have been nominated by their head coach. Participants meet prior to (virtually), during (in person) and after (virtually) the WBCA Convention, which this year takes place April 4-7 in Cleveland.
