Massachusetts Tennis Bests Army, 4-2

The Minutewomen complete the sweep of their weekend road trip.
West Point, N.Y. - University of Massachusetts tennis defeated Army, 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
Though unable to seize the doubles' point, the duo of Renata Farima and Mariana Campino claimed the lone doubles' win, 6-3 over Army's Madison Smith and Emily Ruckno. At No. 1 doubles, the team of Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul fell to Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans of the Mules, 6-4. On court No. 2, Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye lost a tight 7-6 (6) match to Army's Julia Kelly and Jenna Sabile.
In singles play, the Minutewomen pulled off the come-from-behind win with victories at No. 1, 2, 3, and 5 singles. Jonglertrakul kicked off the action with a 6-0, 6-4 over Army's Paulina Feoli on court No. 3. At No. 6 singles, the Mules got one back after Stacey Samonte bested UMass' Alexandra O'Brien, 6-4, 6-3. Soon after, Faessler notched a dominant 6-3, 6-2 win on court No. 2 over Kelly of Army. Danielle Hack continued the momentum at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Army's Cooper Jackson. Polina Akimova closed out the action on court No. 5, bettering the Mules' Smith, 6-1, 6-4. The No. 4 singles match between Tye and Army's Emily Ruckno posted a 3-6, 6-3, 3-1 score before going unfinished.
The Minutewomen look ahead to a match at Syracuse on Sunday, February 18 at 11 a.m.
