Massachusetts Tennis Defeats Georgetown, 4-1

The Minutewomen finish the weekend in New York against Army on Sunday, Feb. 11.
WEST POINT, N.Y. – University of Massachusetts tennis defeated Georgetown University, 4-1, on Saturday morning at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
Massachusetts claimed the doubles point with wins at courts No. 2 and No. 1. Partners Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye downed Georgetown's Paige Gilbert and Emily Novikov, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot, to put the Minutewomen ahead in the doubles match. Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul notched the point for UMass after winning 6-3 over Hoyas duo Chloe Bendetti and Katie Garofolo-Ro at No. 1. Renata Farima and Mariana Campino faced Ashley Kennedy and Morgan Coburn of Georgetown at No. 3 doubles, with Kennedy and Coburn in the lead, 5-2, before it the match came to a halt.
During singles competition, Georgetown's Gilbert tied u the match, 1-1, after a quick 6-0, 6-0 win over Mariya Krasakova at court No. 6. Hack put the Minutewomen back on top at 2-1 after taking down the Hoyas' Tatiana Zelenko, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, before Faessler finished with a three-set victory of 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, at court No. 2 over Avantika Willy of Georgetown. Jonglertrakul clinched the match point for Massachusetts after defeating Garfolo-Ro, 6-7(1), 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 3 position.
UMass takes on Army in West Point, New York, on Sunday, February 11 at 12 p.m., to finish out the weekend.
