Minutemen Open 2024-25 Season at UConn and BU

AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts men's track and field team kicked off their indoor season at the UConn Husky Challenge on Thursday and Friday, wrapping up the opening weekend in Boston for the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday.

Highlights from Competition:

UCONN HUSKY CHALLENGE

Jacob Brown (5^th) and Elijah Wolinski (7^th) each entered the all-time program top-10 in the heptathlon, scoring 4,664 and 4,629 points respectively.
Gadot Gaskins tied for the 7^th-best 60m time in program history, running a 7.00 in the first heat of prelims.
Colin Kirn claimed victory in the men's 1000m with a time of 2:30.13. Nicholas Calitri (2:31.92) and Tyler Medeiros (2:33.46) followed right behind as the Minutemen swept the 1000m podium.
Corey Sanders scored bronze in the men's 500m, reaching a time of 1:07.86.
Alex Bishop (1:29.28) and Aidan Lee (1:29.86) both scored in the men's 600m for UMass, placing second and third respectively.
Aidan Lee (2^nd) and Alex Bishop (3^rd) scored in the men's high jump, reaching heights of 2.00m and 1.95m respectively.
Hunter Feitel placed third in the men's pole vault, clearing 4.35m.
The men's 4x400m team of Winston Lewis, Chris Scalia, Godot Gaskins, and Malcolm Clark claimed second place with a time of 3:26.61.

BU SHARON COLYEAR-DANVILLE SEASON OPENER

Michael Norberg (2^nd) and John Lucey (3^rd) each scored top-3 times in program history for the men's 5K, clocking in at 14:15.68 and 14:19.94 respectively.
Will Kenney followed with a top-10 program 5K as well, reaching the 8^th best time for Massachusetts at 14:25.57.

The Minutemen will be idle until after the new year when they host the UMass Amherst Winter Opener at the TRACK at New Balance on January 12th.
