Hrabal and Wiesner Named UMass Student-Athletes Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey sophomore goaltender Michael Hrabal and women's track and field senior Ainsley Wiesner have been selected as the UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. The duo will be recognized at the UMass Sports Luncheon this Wednesday, December 11, at 12 p.m. at the Berkshire Dining Common.
Guest speakers at this week's luncheon will be a recognition for Fall Male Scholar Athlete Matt Fordham, and tennis head coach Juancarlos Nunez.
Hrabal stopped all 32 shots he faced in a 4-0 shutout at No. 11 Boston University on Saturday, the first-ever shutout of the Terriers in program history and the third career shutout for the Prague, Czechia native. With the win, Hrabal improved to 8-5-2 on the season and was named the game's No. 1 star. He holds a 2.37 goals against average and a .920 save percentage over 15 games this season.
In her first meet as a Minutewoman, Wiesner finished second in the weight throw at the UConn Husky Challenge and set a new school record with her toss of 56 feet, 10.75 inches.
