Men's Basketball, Hockey And Track & Field Trio Tabbed UMass Athletes Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's basketball freshman Jaylen Curry, hockey freshman Michael Hrabal and men's track and field junior Will Kenney have been named the UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. The trio will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon on Wednesday at the Worcester Dining Commons. Featured speakers at the luncheon will be men's & women's swimming & diving head coach Sean Clark and director of men's and women's track and field David Jackson.

Curry continued a streak of breakout performances for the men's basketball program, setting new career-highs in points (18) and minutes (26.40) at Loyola Chicago. The Charlotte, North Carolina native also helped lead the way with 17 points and four assists while shooting 8-of-12 from the field in a dominant 81-67 victory over George Washington. He has now scored in double-figures for four consecutive games.

Hrabal stopped 34 of the 35 shots he faced in net for the hockey program in a 2-1 win at Northeastern last Saturday. In the contest the Prague, Czechia native helped UMass kill a 5x3 and a five-minute major in the third period.

Kenney of men's track & field set his second school record of the season, placing first in the 3000m run at BU's Battle in Beantown. The Essex, Massachusetts, native finished with a time of 8:05.84, breaking Paul Stanislawzyk's record that has stood since 1986.
