Hanya Makes MLS Debut For Colorado Rapids

Men’s soccer alumnus Yosuke Hanya made his first MLS appearance on Wednesday night against Atlanta United.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's soccer alumnus Yosuke Hanya made the second ever MLS debut by a Minuteman on Wednesday for the Colorado Rapids. Hanya entered the match at Atlanta United in the 88th-minute and first appeared on the Rapids' team sheet on Saturday night at Philadelphia.
Hanya has been called up twice to the Colorado Rapids from the club's MLS NEXT Pro side on short-team agreements. The Tokyo, Japan native joined Colorado Rapids 2 ahead of the club's inaugural season in 2022 following his career with the Minutemen. He was named the Rapids 2 Player of the Year last season and led MLS NEXT Pro in scoring this season with seven goals and two assists in seven games.
Mike Butler made the first MLS appearance for the Minutemen during the 2001 season for the New York Red Bulls.
