Tennis Heads To Rhode Island For Final Regular Season Match

The Minutewomen and Rams match up on Saturday, April 22, at 7 p.m., in Newport, R.I.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis travels to Newport, Rhode Island, to face Atlantic 10 foe University of Rhode Island for the regular season finale at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
Last Time Out
Massachusetts dropped a 4-2 decision to A-10 rival Fordham on the road on Sunday.
The Minutewomen garnered the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The pair of Danielle Hack and Anna Napadiy defeated Lindsay Hung and Eleni Fasoula of the Rams, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles. Dylan Cannon and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul went on to clinch the point on court No.3, bettering the Rams' Carlota Casasampere Escoda and Rachelle Yang, 6-2. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Mariya Krasakova and Melisa Senli put up a 5-2 score against Fordham's Valeriya Deminova and Avery Aude, before their match came to a halt.
In singles, Polina Akimova picked up the lone point for UMass at court No. 6, winning 6-4, 6-0 over Yang of Fordham.
Scouting Rhode Island
The Rams hold a 6-15 overall record and a 2-3 A-10 record.
Massachusetts and Rhode Island met last season on April 23, in Amherst, where the Minutemen downed URI, 4-0, to conclude their final regular season match perfect in the league.

After posting a 4-0 weekend, going 2-0 in both doubles and singles play, Senli was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week on February 7, before garnering the laurel on March 1 with a 3-1 overall performance, going 1-1 in doubles and 2-0 in singles.
Hack earned A-10 Performer of the Week on March 1, marking the first weekly award of her career. She went 4-0 overall, including 2-0 in both doubles and singles competition.
The duo swept the weekly honors again on March 28, as Hack earned A-10 Performer of the Week and Senli tabbed A-10 Rookie of the Week. It marked the second weekly accolade for Hack and third for Senli.
