Massachusetts Women's Track And Field Victorious In Commonwealth Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team won the Commonwealth Invitational on Saturday, collecting the first place finish out of a seven-team field. The Minutewomen scored 201 points across the board at the home meet.

Highlights from Competition:
  • Adriana Phan took second place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.52 seconds.
  • Faith Richardson won the 200m dash in 25.06 seconds. Daniella Pierre took third with a 25.80-second finish.
  • Alexsandra Bettencourt and Sarah Witt took the top two spots in the 400m dash in 59.31 seconds and 59.52 seconds, respectively.
  • Charlotte Henning captured third in the 800m run in 2:20.30.
  • In the 1500m run, Annika Zuschlad ran a 4:46.06 for sixth place on the day.
  • Lillian Kirry won the 100mH in 14.59 seconds.
  • The 4x400m 'A' team of Sadai Headley-Mawasi, Kathryn Nippert, Phan, and Richardson won the event in 46.97 seconds, good for the No. 2 time in UMass school history.
  • The 4x400m 'A" team of Headley-Mawasi, Nippert, Elizabeth Hoenes, and Kirry won the event in 4:01.42.
  • Courtney Rowland was victorious in the high jump with a 5' 6" leap.
  • Megan Frazee won the pole vault, matching her personal best leap of 11' 11.75".
  • Tiarra Deveaux and Jordan Lafave took the first and second place spots in the long jump, leaping 18' 9" and 17' 9", respectively.
  • Deveaux also took the top spot in the triple jump with a 37' 7.75" mark.
  • Gabriella Pagnini grabbed first in shot put with a 42' 2.25" toss alongside in the discus with a 144' 1" throw.
  • Voski Armenakyan was the top Minutewoman finisher in the hammer, throwing 170' 9" for third place.
  • Aaliyah Alleyne threw 136' 5" for second place in the javelin.

The Minutewomen return to the track next weekend as they head to the Virginia Challenge from Thursday, April 20 to Saturday, April 22, and the Holy Cross Invitational on Saturday, April 22.
