Trio Collect UMass Student-Athlete Of The Week Honors

Alex Finn of women’s lacrosse, Cal Kiefiuk of hockey and Steve Luttazi of baseball earn the weekly award.
AMHERST, Mass. – Senior Alex Finn of women's lacrosse, senior Cal Kiefiuk of hockey and graduate student Steve Luttazi of baseball have been named UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, as announced on Tuesday morning. The trio will be honored at this week's UMass Athletics Luncheon on Wednesday at the Berkshire Dining Commons.
Finn scored six goals and added a pair of assists for eight points in a 2-0 week for the Minutewomen. The senior scored twice in a 16-10 road win at Holy Cross to open the week. In Saturday's 16-12 win at UConn, Finn scored a team-high four goals and picked up two assists to give her 19 points on the season. Finn had three goals and both assists in the second half after trailing 8-6 at half.
Kiefiuk had a four-point weekend to help UMass to its first road sweep of Maine since 2010. He logged a goal and an assist in Friday's 5-2 victory, followed by his second multi-goal game of his career in a 4-2 win over the Black Bears, scoring twice in the contest.
Luttazi posted a .714 batting average, a .800 on base percentage and a 1.143 slugging percentage, as UMass went 2-1 on the week in its series at Navy. The graduate student recorded five hits, three RBI, three runs and one homer in seven at bats. During game two at Navy, he went 2-for-3, with one walk, one run and two RBI, before going 3-for-4 in the series finale with one RBI, two runs and his first long ball of the season.
