Massachusetts Swim And Dive In Seventh Place After Day One Of Atlantic 10 Championships

The Minutewomen set a new 200-yard medley relay record on the first day of competition.
GENEVA, Ohio - Massachusetts swimming and diving began competition in the Atlantic 10 Championship meet on Wednesday afternoon at the SPIRE Institute. Massachusetts' performances were highlighted by a new women's 200-yard medley relay school record.
Highlights from Competition
Team Finishes
Both the Minutemen and Minutewomen sit in seventh place after day one. The women have collected 55 points and the men have collected 52 points through five events.
Next Up
Massachusetts resumes action in the Atlantic 10 swimming and diving championship meet tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 16. Preliminary races will begin at 10 a.m., with finals kicking off at 6:30 p.m.
Highlights from Competition
- The women's 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Megan Mitchell, Maggie Desmond, Summer Pierce, and Caroline Mahoney broke their own school record set in October 2022 by over one second, clocking a time of 1:40.56 and picking up a sixth place finish for 26 points.
- Emma Petrovich took eighth place in the women's 1-meter dive finals, recording a score of 243.70 and collecting 11 points.
- The women's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Beatriz Olivieri, Jane Denenberg, Anna Kwon, and Olivia Mozoki claimed ninth place in the event, swimming a time of 7:29.77. Their performance is good for 26 points and Olivieri's first leg of the relay, 1:49.01, is good for the school record in the 200-yard freestyle.
- The men's 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Noah Witt, Jack Artis, Grant Beebe, and Sammy Quigg captured eighth place and 22 points in 1:29.59.
- The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Emerson Kiefer, Juan Montori, Wilson Dubois, and Eric Eastham earned the best finish of the day for Massachusetts, collecting 30 points and fourth place in 6:33.63.
