Massachusetts Men's Track And Field Battles At BU, URI

The Minutemen sent a handful to BU, while the remainder of the squad set off to URI.
BOSTON / KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of Massachusetts men's track and field team wrapped up their regular season indoor slate on Saturday, with most of the squad competing at the URI Coaches Invitational and a handful of Minutemen running in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Highlights from the URI Coaches Invitational:

Nasir Perry was the runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles, running the event in 8.21 seconds.

Nicholas Valianti took second place in the mile in 4:24.24, with Owen Mullahy following in fourth place (4:26.15).

Godot Gaskins won the 400-meter dash in 50.31 seconds. Bernd Martens took fourth place in the race in 53.92 seconds.

In the weight throw, Tevin Early threw 55' 11" for third place. Isaac Passett followed in seventh place (50' 11").

Mason Benton (1:07.54) and Fredy Peralta (1:09.35) came in third and fourth places in the 500-meter run.

Michael Rodia placed third in the 60-meter dash in 6.99 seconds.

Joachim Ennoo (21' 5.5", third) and Michael Harden (20' 8.75", sixth) were the top finishers for the Minutemen in the long jump.

Alexander Laurent was the lone Minuteman to run the 800-meter race, capturing third place in 2:00.32.

Michael Harden was the first Minuteman to cross the finish line in the 200-meter dash in 23.08 seconds, while Felipe Gonzalez (23.37 seconds) and Rodia (23.44 seconds) captured sixth and seventh places.

The 4x400-meter "A" team of Martens, Peralta, Benton, and Christopher Matthews won the race in 3:31.51.
Highlights from the David Hemery Valentine Invitational:
- Will Kenney was the first Minuteman to finish in the mile, recording a time of 4:10.98 for 171st place. Michael Norberg followed in 213th place in 4:12.88.

The Minutemen will get next weekend off before heading back to URI for the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 25 and Sunday, Feb. 26.
