Camara, Catherwood Claim Gold At Openinig Day Of MAC Outdoor Championship

MUNCIE, Ind. — The University of Massachusetts men's track and field program sits in second place after the opening day of the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Briner Sports Complex. After a pair of first place finishes from Hunter Camara in the javelin and Collin Catherwood in the 10k, the Minutemen enter day two with a score of 25 points. 


Highlights from Competition:
  • Hunter Feitel placed ninth in the men's high jump with a clear of 14'0". 
  • Aiden Donovan placed ninth in the men's discus with a throw of 155'8". 
  • Hunter Camara won the men's javelin throw with a toss of 207'3", becoming the first MAC Outdoor Champion in men's program history. Jack Freyler placed fourth with a throw of 196'2", and Nick Gallagher placed tenth with a distance of 163'3". 
  • The duo of Corey Sanders and Chris Scalia both qualified for the men's 400m hurdle finals after running 54.54 and 54.08, respectively. 
  • Godot Gaskins and Nathan Looney qualified for the men's 200m dash finals after finishing in 21.42 and 21.66, respectively. 
  • Collin Catherwood ended the men's day with a gold medal in the men's 10k, claiming the second gold of the day for the Minutemen with a time of 29:35.60. 

The Minutemen return to action for the second day of the MAC Outdoor Championships, starting at 10:00am.
