Recinos, Kane Tab United Soccer Coaches All-Region Honors

It’s the first time since 2019 that UMass has had a player named to the All-East Region list.
AMHERST, Mass. – Junior midfielder Bella Recinos and graduate student defender Fiona Kane were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Second and Third Team, respectively, on Tuesday. It marks the first time since 2019 that a two or more Minutewomen have earned the honor.
Earlier this year, Recinos became the second Minutewoman in program history to garner the Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year accolade and 11th UMass player overall to be named the offensive, defensive, midfielder or rookie of the year for the A-10. She also landed on the A-10 All-Conference First Team.
Recinos started in 17 of 18 games for the Minutewomen this season, accumulating 1,247 minutes on the pitch. She led the team in points (19), goals (7) and assists (5), while also registering a team-high 35 shots, including a team-best 20 shots on goal. The Winter Park, Florida, native, tallied a team-leading four game-winning goals on the year, tying for second in the A-10 and 75th in the nation. Her 19 points ranked third in the conference, with her seven goals tying for third in the league. Recinos recorded a career-high four points with one goal and a career-best matching two assists, against Loyola Chicago (10/1) to be selected as the A-10 Offensive Player of the Week. She also dished out two assists in the 5-0 shutout victory at Davidson (9/24).
Kane became the program's all-time leader in minutes with 8,025, all-time leader in games played with 89, and all-time leader in games started with 89, to finish out her career with the Minutewomen.
Kane started in every contest for Massachusetts this season, averaging over 1,554 minutes. She totaled two points on the year, notching the first only goal of her career on a penalty kick in the 5-0 win at Davidson (9/24). The Easton, Massachusetts, native, took four shots, placing two on target, and played a key role in the Minutewomen's nine shutouts on the season. Kane also earned a spot on the A-10 All-Conference First Team.
Led by sixth year head coach Jason Dowiak, the Minutewomen entered the postseason as the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament thanks to a 6-2-2 mark in league play.
Overall, Massachusetts finished 9-5-4 on the season and went undefeated in the regular season on its home turf, posting a 6-0-1 record at Rudd Field. The Minutewomen's undefeated home record marked the first time for the program since the 1993 season, when the team went 8-0-2. It also was the first time in program history UMass went undefeated at Rudd Field since its opening in 2002.
