Women’s Soccer Lands Six On CSC Academic All-District Team

AMHERST, Mass. -  Six members of the University of Massachusetts women's soccer team earned Academic All-District honors, as announced by the College Sports Communicators organization on Tuesday. Ella Curry, Fiona Kane, Kelly Pease, Chandler Pedolzky, Emma Pedolzky and Hannah Peric were selected for their efforts on the field and in the classroom.
 
The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The student-athletes must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher.
 
Curry, a Collegeville, Pennsylvania, native, is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. She competed in 18 games for the Minutewomen, getting the start in 17. She totaled 1,214 minutes on the pitch and recorded four points on four assists, notching the first assist of her collegiate career at UMass Lowell (8/24), while tallying 18 shots with seven on goal. Curry earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team for the second straight time this season.
 
Kane, an Easton, Massachusetts, native, received her bachelor's degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, and is currently working towards her master's in Management. She started in every contest for UMass this season, averaging over 1,554 minutes. The graduate student recorded two points on the year, notching the first and only goal of her career on a penalty kick in the 5-0 road win at Davidson (9/24). Kane, who was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week once this year, took four shots, placing two on target, and played a key role in the Minutewomen's nine shutouts on the season.
 
Pease, a Natick, Massachusetts, native, is earning her bachelor's degree in Management. She got the start in 15 of 18 games played, accumulating 974 minutes on the pitch. The junior registered six shots on the season.
 
Chandler Pedolzky, a Westfield, Massachusetts, native, is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Management and Legal Studies. She appeared in 17 of 18 games for the Minutewomen, playing 648 total minutes. The junior scored one goal and had three assists for five points, notching the game-winning goal in the 1-0 shutout victory over VCU (9/21). Chandler Pedolzky put 11 of her 25 shots on goal.
 
Emma Pedolzky, a Westfield, Massachusetts, native, is currently working towards her bachelor's degree in Mathematics. She competed in all 18 contests, getting the start in five, and tallying 915 minutes on the pitch. The junior recorded two goals and four assists for eight points, while putting eight of her 13 shots on net.
 
Peric, a Sydney, Australia, native, is earning her bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Managerial Economics. Starting in all 18 games, the senior averaged 1,539 minutes on the field. She collected two points on one goal, notching the game-winning goal in the 5-0 win at Davidson (9/24). Peric took 11 shots with six on target.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on December 20.
